Here is a picture of the boothbay (a fishing village in maine, usa) lobster boat, otherwise known as the maine lobster boat, taken from the box in which the kit is delivered. this is a 30 inch kit and is built with thin micro-lite plywood, basswood, mahogany and balsa wood.. Hull type: round bilge hull form with a flat run aft, long deep skeg, and flaring topsides forward, characteristic of new england lobster boats. build in wood or "one-off" fiberglass. the wood version is built using conventional strip planking or cold-molded epoxy strip planked with triple laminated wood outer veneer.. Building plans. lobster 31 arises as a project for boatyards, wich normally requires a less detailed set of drawings compared to a homebuilder; i personally consider an enterprise like building this boat on the top edge of what a homebuilder can do, more because of systems complexity than for the hull building. september 2017 update:. 
lobster boat model plans We're trying to find some plans for building a downeast-type lobster boat. we want to keep it trailerable, with an 8' beam, so that would put the length somewhere between 24 - 27' we're familiar with the arno day / beale / lowell / holland, etc. boats. we're trying to find plans for a wood planked, round bilge, built-down or semi-built down boat.. I built the midwest lobster boat then i wanted to build a bigger one so i had the plans enlarged about 33% to buils a 40 inch model but i never got around to building it so i'm not sure if it would work out right.
