Hello rc friends! that's my first post here and hope i choose right thread to post a building blog. past year i've build gas engine powered boat from plywood, using my own plans. engine - is weedeater 25cc. length ~1.3 meters. weight ~10kg.. Weed eater motor in a boat i am interested in making my own boat and putting a weedeater motor in it has this been done and are there kits or helpfull hints to share, i am pretty handy and have tools to do it, also do small engine repair on the side, any thoughts of going about this.. Large rc model boats commonly have the size engine you're talking about though. most often they're inboards but i've also seen them mated to miniature rc io drives which was neat for a model. the converted weed eater engines go for around $200-250 as a kit for rc boatbuilders.. 
weed eater rc boat plans Gas weedeater rc boats. on a side note average speed for a weedeater boat runs about 45-60mph and some faster one just set a record at 120mph. the other plus is they run for about 40 minutes on a tank of gas and most run latern fuel (white gas) as it runs cooler and does not go bad easily...
